Doula Duet: A Different Approach to Doulaing.
For a slightly higher price, families seeking extra support may hire my doula partner, Erin A. Taylor, and I to doula together at your birth. We attend all visits together and both attend your birth. There are many benefits to this different approach to doualing. For many laboring moms, the idea of her doula needing to step out occassionally for a lunch break or even a potty break can be frightening. With two doulas, you will never be without support. This approach is helpful in the case of long labors where a back up doula might be called to relieve your primary doula who needs a short nap. In our doula duet, your back up doula is already present. The birthing family benefits from the experience and expertise of two birth doulas. There are four hands to massage, apply counter pressure, and give a supporting touch. The partners are able to pace themselves better resulting in less fatigue and a more helpful presence at your birth.
